I went to Kelly’s to get scallops in Danvers today. Come to find out It’s a seafood restaurant that does not sell scallops anymore… So I got a fish sandwich. I paid $16 for pretty much two pieces of bread. You could barely see the fish or taste the fish… I’m very disappointed such a waste of money I will never go there again. I could’ve went to Market Basket and got some bread and just ate that.
If zero stars were an option, this visit would deserve it. Came to the Danvers location over Memorial Day weekend for a late lunch. This was by far the worst experience at Kelly’s Roast Beef after many years of going to Kelly’s, and one of the absolute worst restaurant experiences. The service at the register was low-energy and unfocused, and the food was horrible. The order came out cold, including the clams (scallops no longer offered), hot dog, and onion rings. There were no utensils for the coleslaw and no tartar sauce for the clams. The surf and turf, which included a lobster roll that should have been served cold, was overcooked, and worst of all, warm from sitting out. The onion rings in both orders were burnt, and the rest of the food was so cold it was inedible. The dining area was also poorly maintained. There are usually four ketchup dispensers, but two were completely missing. Of the two that were left, one was completely empty and the other was nearly empty. The tables were not clean either. Some of it would be understandable if it were busy but the place was practically empty. For nearly $100, this was a complete waste of money. It’s so incredibly disappointing to have to find a new go-to- spot after 20 years of this being a longtime favorite. What used to be a reliable, nostalgic favorite now feels careless and poorly run.
I had an absolutely amazing experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully set. The staff were incredibly friendly attentive. Service was quick without feeling rushed, and the overall experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you can truly sit back and enjoy great food and great company. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
